About The Event
Registration opens October 1, 2018. More information coming soon!
The Portland Preschool Crawl is hosted by the Metro Chapter of OregonAEYC. This is a unique event that offers continuing education for educators with the opportunity to tour local programs in the Portland Area.
This fall, Metro is proud to announce that participants will receive seven hours of training. All participants will take part in a three hour training presented by Ingrid Anderson, Ed.D. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, followed by a four hour guided tour of early childhood programs. Transportation for the tour will be provided by Metro via school buses.
Presenter: Ingrid Anderson, Ed.D.
Ingrid Anderson loves thinking about spaces. As an early childhood educator and certificated interior designer, she is fascinated by the messages that our environments have on our thinking and well-being. For the past 30-years, Ingrid has worked as a classroom educator, director, administrator and now university professor in thinking about early childhood issues and environments. Her passion is holding space for early childhood educators working in a vital profession. She believes that young children offer insights to societal issues and problems and that how we construct our environments, helps them to make their contributions to society visible. Ingrid believes that we co-construct meaning and that we can address issues of equity and social justice through our image of children in how we plan our environments and spaces.
Training Summary
Designing Uncommon Spaces: Exploring Children’s Relationships in Classroom Design
Set Two, LEC and UGB
Contemporary early childhood spaces embrace meaningful relationships, curiosity and wonder through their design. Using influences from architecture, nature, and the arts, we examine the elements of classroom design that defined the humans who engage in learning in these co-constructed spaces. We apply design theory to develop spaces that embrace relationships between and among children, educators, and the community.
*Spanish language interpretation will be provided
